Heckfield Place is a Georgian hotel in the Hampshire countryside. The Screening Room was a significant project undertaken as part of our extensive refurbishment of the estate. Engineering, excavation and construction of the new 12,000 sq ft basement were a challenge, with the seven metre deep structure located within four metres of the front façade of the Grade II listed building. Hidden beneath the entrance driveway to the hotel, and accessed via a sweeping external staircase, along with the impressive 67 seat screening room, there’s a bar, wine cellar and public and staff facilities.
The room is used for screenings and the hotel’s curated programme of events. We worked with a team of specialist consultants to complete the technical and interior design of the space, with fabric-covered acoustic absorption to the walls and coffered ceiling panels that provide optimum conditions for both cinema and presentations. Luxurious bespoke leather chairs and side tables with integrated lighting ensure occupants are very comfortable.
A lot of care has been taken; the attention to detail is extraordinary. The historic property and grounds have been lovingly restored and future-proofed and we have had the luxury of time to do this. You can see it in the restored architectural details, the established, fruitful gardens, the complementary interior design.
