Parade Hotel
In June 2024, planning and listed building consent was secured for the careful refurbishment of Parade Park Hotel — a Grade I listed Georgian townhouse in the heart of Bath. This milestone marks a crucial step in transforming the building into a landmark hotel that respects its heritage while meeting modern hospitality needs.
Located on North Parade and overlooking Parade Gardens, the hotel is part of John Wood the Elder’s iconic Georgian development, situated within Bath’s Conservation Area and World Heritage Site, just minutes from Bath Spa station.
The Fairtree Group appointed Spratley & Partners to navigate the complex planning process and lead the design. Our team’s expertise in historic buildings and close collaboration with the Local Authority were key to addressing previous unsympathetic alterations and structural challenges —securing approval for a scheme that restores the hotel’s original character and enhances guest experience with new accessible facilities.
The project features new courtyard rooms behind the existing garden wall, constructed with local Bath stone and traditional lime mortar, topped with a green roof to support biodiversity. The landscaped courtyard provides private outdoor space, adding value and comfort for guests.
This project supports Bath Preservation Trust’s 2024 focus on protecting and enhancing heritage and landscapes — preserving the unique character of Bath’s World Heritage cityscape for generations to come.
